Eric Elbot had a maid's room on the 7th floor of a building near the college on Aveneu la Tour Maubourg. No plumbing or cooking. Froze in winter. Water faucet down the hall and in the other direction the communal Turkish toilet. Neighbors were gendarme and wife with small child and working every night on producing another. Thin walls. Metal bed. Endless stair case.
